“Beautiful things don’t ask for attention.” Thus, a reason I love nature....pure, selfless, uniquely beautiful. Realizing the wisdom in all of it....be kind, genuine, respectful of all, apologetic when necessary, and only make those worthy a priority....life is too short for wasted time... . . . . . #pnwlife #pnwcollective #pnwonderland #awakethesoul #roamtheplanet #stayandwander #wondermore #neverstopexploring #exploremore #exploretocreate #liveauthentic #seeknewhorizons #cascadiaexplored #livefolk #folkgood #thatpnwlife #herpnwlife #optoutside #getoutstayout #northwestisbest #collectivelycreate #lifeofadventure #adventureawaits

Mir was born in the family of the Qasims in one of the bungalows of Chowringhee lane that overlooked the Hooghly. Minutes after that he was handed over to his Abba, his Abba had looked down there and had exclaimed in a sharp screech “Barak Allahu laka fiha”. May Allah bless it. He had both of the genitals. Abba had thought of all the possible ways he could shun of the fact behind layers of clothes and declaring it to the world of how he was blessed with a boy. Mir Jahan Qasim; another of the generation of the merchants who could trace back their descendents to Kabul. Mir had grown up to the sound of his mother calling his name sweetly amidst his dreams: “Mir bacchey, Fajr ka samay hogaya hain”. Mir would jump up from his bed to search around for his skull cap, violently shutting himself off the dream in which he was dancing in beautifully laden clothes like Anarkali in Mughal-e-Azam. One morning, he had forgotten to get up and had missed the Fajr. He was still encapsulated in his dream when his father came storming into the room and had slapped him across his face. He had woken up with tears his beautiful eyes and a stinging swollen face. “Tu Fajr kaise bhool sakta hai?” How could you forget the prayers? “Woh Abba mai sapna dekh raha tha.” Sorry father, I got lost in my dreams. “Kaisa sapna?” What was the dream about? “Ki mai ladki hun”. That I was a girl. . His Abbu had beat him with a leather whip that day. His shoulder was stinging with bruises that even his mother wasn't allowed to touch. Mir’s father's terror would resonate around the house. That night while tossing and turning on the bed, in his own room as his back burned in treacherous pain, the 15 year old Mir had thought of a beautiful name for himself, already. Next day, he had already started off with drawing stars in the morning sky until when he had left his front porch door open to the sound of Fajr hitting the dawn light. Signed on the table he had left: “Mai ladki hun, Abba. Meera Jahan Qasim.” . . ~oindrila. . #lgbt #lgbtpride #lgbtq #gendernonconforming #genderfluid #delhisnaps #delhigram #indiapictures #_soi #writersofinstagram #vscoindia #ig_india #phodus_competition #maibhisadakchap

How do you move a 1200# red cedar log into its new home? Very very slowly. #lakedalesculptureproject @lakedaleresort @janetaustinart #anthonyheinzmay #slowly #sculpture #staytuned #pnwonderland #northwestisbest #upperleftusa #fridayharbor #vagabond #redcedar

[When I look at narcissism through the vulnerability lens, I see the shame-based fear of being ordinary. I see the fear of never feeling extraordinary enough to be noticed, to be lovable, to belong, or to cultivate a sense of purpose.] brené brown. I hope I’m teaching my daughter to value herself, nature, and others. To be kind. To be adventurous, to be curious. To be strong, yet compassionate. To love herself and love others. To ask questions yet know what she believes. To follow her gut and trust her instinct. To give people the benefit of the doubt yet take no crap from others. Stand tall and confident my young #forceofnature. You are loved + you have purpose. You are not ordinary; and even at your tender age I know it. . . . . . . . . . . #pnw #oregon #upperleftusa #hikeitbaby #bornwild #liveyouradventure #womenwhoexplore #lifeoutdoors #nevertooyoungtohike #keepitwild #northwestisbest #pnwoutdoorwomen #naturelovers #teachthemyoung #werehikers #hikeoregon #pnwlife #oregonbornandraised #pnwbaby #optoutside #rei #womenwhohike #mtnchicks #exploreoregon

For this maternity session we decided to meet at Entrance Point but soon realised that the tide was too high with the beach disappearing in front of our eyes. The Kimberley Coast has the biggest tides in the southern hemisphere and in case you wondered… yes, I now check the tides before every shoot.😉 A quick change of plans meant that Riddell Beach was going to be the location for this family/maternity session and boy, we were not disappointed. Riddell Beach is a stunning stretch of sand between Broome’s Port and Gantheaume Point, less than 10 kilometres from the town centre, and a favourite with Broome locals. . . . . . .

Looking back on one of my favourite hikes from last year. It reminds me that I need to explore Squamish/Whistler/Pemberton more often. Looks like I know what I’m doing tomorrow. 🚗🤤🙌🏻

I had such a great time the first part of the day, Powell Bookstore, Chinese Garden, Bamboo Sushi, Voodoo Donuts 🍩 rolled ice cream 🍨 and time with my friend Angela and her daughter.
