It’s never to late to learn something new! I had learned to surf in my junior year of high school. I loved it! But I never stayed consistent,so after years later and two kids, I wanted to try it again. 28 years old and learning to surf again was a BLAST! Don’t let the fear of doing something different or the feeling of inadequacy keep you from living! Learn something new, take up a new hobby... live in freedom! . @melodyvalenzuela . . . . . . . #itiswell #momswhocompete #showupforyourself #bikinigirl #fitnessmom #earnednotgiven #delmar #surfergirl #beachbabes #fitstyle #heartissues #freedom #learning #advocare #caligirl #caligirlinindiana #oceans #mermaid #sisterlove

If this doesn't open you're eyes I don't know what will. Filmed today in the Dominican Republic. 8 million tonnes of plastic each year enters our oceans and by 2050 more plastic will be in them than fish. Truly shocking footage. 'If we do not do something to prevent it, Africa's animals, and the places which they live, will be lost to our world and her children forever. Before it is too late we need your help to lay the foundation that will preserve this precious legacy long after we are gone' #MandelaDay

Pastels in Sonnet ~ her wildness is hidden beneath a facade of cascading hues. So lovely and refined from the exterior, yet bursting with fiery passion, spreading like a whirlwind over the stormy seas. She impatiently waits for her love, as feathery clouds wisp her away consuming her naked body. Taking every breath until the end, she exhibits one last spark of hope, before resting behind the silhouette of the forsaken fog. Her final reflection seen for miles, as her time yields to the rising moon...her one true love. 🔥💗 #sunsetlovers #sunset_captures #skypainters #skylovers #sky_captures #sky_perfection #prettysky #pastelsky #delmar #beachlife #beachesandnature #sunrise_and_sunsets #sunrise_sunsets_aroundworld #ig_skyvibes #ig_skylovers #world_bestsky #sun_and_beach_sb #sunset_vision #nature_prefection #pinksky #beachlover #sonya7iii #sky_brilliance #cloudzdelight #oceans #reflections #lovepoems #sandiego_ca #sunsetsnipers #sunsetsky

👀… He’s staring at us… but maybe that’s because we’re looking at him most of the time! 😀 He’s one of the many fish 🐟 we study to understand how plastic particles affect sea creatures like him. With nuclear and isotopic techniques (don’t worry, they are safe!), we can track certain atoms attached to the little plastic particles to understand how a marine organism takes up the particles and processes them. Studies show that the little pieces of microplastic particles can accumulate in a sea creature’s flesh, which in turn means that if people eat seafood that has been eating a lot of these little microplastic pieces, people can also consume the plastic fragments too. Determining the health risks associated with this is also what scientists are studying using nuclear and isotopic techniques. Look at this beautiful view of the coral reef- Imagine rhythmic waves, the delicate coral structure swaying with the waves, fish darting in and out, and a sunshiny golden blue. That's heavenly, isn't it!? "Gorgonian is a soft coral, commonly known as the sea fan. These are sessile colonial cnidarians that feed on plankton. They depend on water current flow to bring in food. These sea fans provide shelter to many creatures, some of which mimic the sea fan colours so that they can hide between them." 9 lessons we can learn from #Europe (this article from @wellnessmama has been a fav amongst the ladies of the #coop!): 1) More Focus on #Community: families and communities share meals, made from scratch, and spend hours talking, drinking #wine, and enjoying each others’ company. They didn’t eat in the car on the way to other activities and their lives didn’t revolve around external activities. 2) More (& Better) Wine: Wine contains many beneficial compounds like #flavonoids, resveratrol, and other beneficial plant compounds that are good for the body. The other important difference is that these people drinking #natural wines. 3) Less #Plastic Exposure: many plastics contain known #endocrine disruptors and plastic overuse is causing problems in our #oceans and water supply. Italian grocery stores charge for bags (up to around $1 each) and some don’t offer plastic bags at all! 4) More Movement and More #Walking: there isn’t an oversupply of gyms (like in the U.S.) but most of the people we met get more “exercise” than most of America does. Daily life involves walking to and from town, working on vines or in the garden, and preparing food. They very seldom sat still. 5) #Nap Time: Recent science shows the many benefits of a 20-30 minute quick nap. #Harvard Health recently released a report explaining the benefits of a quick nap and how it can positively affect circadian rhythm. 6) Less Air Conditioning: #Sweating is one of the body’s natural detoxification mechanisms and is said to be great for the skin. 7) Growing Food at Home: people of them didn’t have to go to the local farmer’s market… their food came from the backyard. 8)Better Use of Space and Stairs: Minimalism has become trendy in the US. In #Europe, it seemed that in general, people owned less “stuff” and made better use of space. There are few elevators so people are forced to move more. 9) No Dryers: saves #energy, washing and hanging clothes is natural exercise, and the #sun is a natural #sanitizer so clothes stay fresh & don’t shrink!

Can you spot the octopus? 🐙

The coastlines and oceans draw us to their shores and seas for this is were we conjure up our dreams! The smell of salt, the feel of spray and the wonderment of watching the ever rolling waves opens up the endless opportunities of our imagination. It is the place where, even if only briefly, we become free again unshackling ourselves from the expectations of society and materialism. We must all make time to allow our dreams to be set free and become reality and there is no better place to allow that to happen than on the sea shore!
